Jason Weiss

Software Engineer, Entrepreneur

I’m originally from Michigan but I moved to California after I got out of the Army. I've always been a bit restless and believe in pushing yourself to be better in all aspects of life. I've been working since I was 14 and have had many different types of jobs and they all have taught me something valuable. However my strength and passion is computers and technology. Computers are an incredible game changer allowing people from any background to accomplish amazing things. This passion drives me to constantly improve my skills in Software Engineering and Development. I also enjoy sales and marketing and it is the combination of these passions that allows me to create businesses. I've started and ran several successful businesses and continue to deliver as much value as I can to the businesses, products and services I work on.

I’m mainly self-taught but I did attend Santa Barbara City College after leaving the Army. I’m a Zend Certified PHP Engineer, Oracle Certified MySQL Developer, W3C certified in HTML and CSS, I’m currently working on a Laravel Developer Certification. I’m fluent in the following languages HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Java, SQL and use the following libraries and frameworks Laravel, Vue.js, jQuery, Sass and Less. I use Git for version control and Composer for packages and on the front end I use Bower, NPM and lately I’ve been playing around with webpack. For databases I use MySQL or MariaDB I’ve been using MariaDB more lately for its NOSQL features with Cassandra. I follow an AGILE methodology, the SOLID design principles and TDD. I use design patterns where I feel they will be beneficial but I believe in a strong focus on Object Oriented Analysis and Design. I have a decent understanding in systems administration and run a Linux server on the current LTS version of Ubuntu with Nginx as the webserver. I work with open source technologies and try to give back as much as possible to the community.
